Vejle Yacht Service ApS is a boatyard specialising in building classic designs in a modern way.
We build using the latest methods, and at the same time we are specialist craftsmen in restoration work in all kind of wooden materials.
The company is owned by Thomas Egeskov and Peter Johansen.

The most advanced technology

We have built the ultimate Dragon using cutting-edge technology. The Royal Dragon is designed with the latest 3-D computer modelling software, combined with 5-axis computer-controlled milling. This has enabled us to implement speed-increasing shape modifications, combined with structural stiffness superior to traditional GRP Dragons.

The latest materials and engineering techniques

The hull, deck and inner mould are made using the latest engineering technology – using vacuum infusion of vinylester together with a combination of optimised types of E-glass – yielding a very high percentage of fibreglass. The inner mould is designed to give maximum stiffness to the hull, as well as a perfect working environment for the crew. The entire construction is calculated to ensure that the Royal Dragon is right on the speed limit set by the class, and that the weight distribution is opti¬mised for the swing test. Furthermore the Royal Dragon is optimised for the latest buoyancy rules – giving better stiffness and control of weight distribution.

Equipment designed by Dragon sailors

The mast and rigging are designed for optimal functionality, simplicity and speed.
The Royal Dragon is fitted with a new stiff chainplate system, which allows easy adjustment of the shrouds’ deck position. All hauls and fittings in the Royal Dragon are constructed from superior, well-proven materials. Only the very best gear from Harken is used.

The layout and placement of fittings is specifically designed for optimal ergonomic handling and working conditions, in both sites - in the cockpit, as well as from the hiking position. Additional features of the Royal Dragon include:

• a specially developed bridge below the cabin top
• a fast and precise winchless genoa system
• a glass reinforced plastic (GRP) tube for the spinnaker and spare sails
• a raised floorboard

Superior service

The Royal Dragon service team is a highly respected partnership of sailors and boat builders who provide service support both on land and on the water. A specially equipped Royal Dragon mobile support unit is present at international events. Their vehicle is equipped with the necessary spare parts and acces¬sories. Should you want help trimming your Dragon, our service team will be glad to assist.
